Do sewed in weaves help make your hair grow?

I got my hair sewed in for my wedding almost two months ago. I plan to finally take it out this Saturday. I feel a lot of new growth in my hair and I have been putting grease in it every three or four days. This is the first time I have had a sewed in weave before. I just want to know what I could expect once I finally take this out. Do sewed in weaves help make your hair grow? That's what I heard. My hair was perfect before I put it in. It was shoulder length when I put in, but I wanted a particular style for my wedding that required a lot more hair. So somebody tell me (and don't be rude), do sew in weaves make your hair grow?

Well they don’t really promote hair growth. The benefit is that sew-ins help keep your real hair from being damaged from heating, blow-drying, etc. It may seem like your own hair is growing faster but it’s not. It’s just not being damaged because it’s not being handled.
